Rehearsal Dinner
Historically the rehearsal dinner has been the planning and financial responsibility of the groom's family. That's not always the case in current times. If the groom's family is planning the dinner this takes some pressure and responsibility off your shoulders as the bride and groom. Regardless of who plans the event, just remember that the rehearsal dinner is just that -- a dinner -- and time to spend with immediate family and bridal party members before all the wedding day chaos. It should be an intimate affair. Keep it simple. You wouldn't want your rehearsal dinner to take anything away from the wedding you've been planning for months or sometimes years. Choose a favorite restaurant in your hometown or rent out a local hall for the evening. A backyard BBQ at the home of a family member or friend would be very relaxing and enjoyable.
You can also use this time to present gifts to bridal party members and your family to say thank you for their participation at your wedding day. If you do have a large guest list for the dinner you may want to send out invitations and perhaps make name tags for guests so they can get to know each other. |
